
After their win against Egypt on Sunday, February 6, Senegal National team were rewarded with different prizes from their President.
On Tuesday, February 8, Senegal’s President Macky Sall awarded each member of the national football team with cash prizes and plots of land.
Each team member received Ksh9 million ($87,000) and plots in the capital, Dakar, and in the neighbouring Diamniadio city during a ceremony at the presidential palace.
"As a token of gratitude and on behalf of the nation, the players and other members of the official delegation will each receive a special bonus of $87,412 and a 200 square metre plot of land in Dakar," President Macky Sall stated.

President Sall also appointed the team to Senegal's prestigious Order of the Lion as fans cheered outside the presidential palace.
“We dreamed of the cup you built this dream and made it come true. Finally the Africa Cup of Nation is here with us.
“You have made us proud by putting Senegal's name on the world map. You have honoured the nation and in return the nation you are so proud of owes you honours,” the president added.
He also praised the team's coach, Aliou Cisse for leading the National team to win their first AFCON trophy in their history.
This was Senegal's first time to lift the coveted trophy after waiting for 60 years with the president declaring February 7, a public holiday in the country.
The streets of Dakar were filled with thousands of people on February 7, as they waited for the arrival of their stars.
The president also urged Cisse to lead The Lions of Teranga to the the 2022 World Cup, to be held in Qatar from November 21 to December 18, 2022. Ghana however have an uphill task ahead of them - they face off with the Pharaohs for a spot in March.
