The Ghana Football Association on February 9, confirmed the appointment of Chris Hughton as the national team's new technical advisor.
The 63-year old has managed English Premier League sides like Newcastle and Brighton with his last job being at Nottingham Forest.
Hughton has roots in Ghana with his father, Terry, a Ghanaian decent and his mother,Christine, from the Republic of Ireland.
Hughton's appointment comes after Ghana fired their previous manager Milovan Rajevac after a poor campaign at the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON2021) where Black Stars were knocked out at group stage.
Reports say that the former Ireland defender will try to recruit Premier League stars like Callum Hudson-Odoi and Tariq Lamptey to play for Ghana.
Ghana finished bottom of their group in the just concluded African tournament, with a single point after a draw against Gabon.
The former Brighton manager is part of a four-man management team that has been appointed to help the Black Stars secure a place in the 2022 World Cup in Qatar later this year.
The rest of the management included former Borussia Dortmund assistant Otto Addo, former Aston Villa and Middlesbrough midfielder, George Boateng, and former Ghana women’s coach Mas-Ud Didi and former head coach at Danish side, Nordsjælland.
Oddo featured in 15 matches for Ghana as a player, before beginning his coaching career at Hamburg as an assistant coach.
Ghana will be facing Super Eagles of Nigeria as they seek to qualify for the Qatar 2022 World Cup.
