African Footballer Summoned by Parliament Over Poor AFCON Campaign

Ghana's Parliament has summoned Andre Ayew to answer questions over Black Stars' performance at the just concluded AFCON 2021. 

Due to a poor run at the African tournament hosted by Cameroon, a committee was put in place to investigate what may have led to the dismal performance.

The invitation to Andre Ayew was sent through the Ghana Football Association (GFA), however it remains to be seen whether the Black Stars captain will honour the summons after he returned to his club  Al Sadd SC in Qatar.

The Ghanaian Parliament will be opening a probe into why the Black Stars registered the country's worst performance in history at the tournament. 

Ghana finished bottom of Group C with a single point having lost to Morocco and Comoros and only drawing against Gabon.

The Black Stars exited the AFCON at the group stage for the first time in 16 years having not won a single game for the first time ever 

Also, those set to appear before the committee the Minister of Youth and Sports, the National Sports Authority and the Ghana Football Association. 

The summons will happen separately with the minister of sports set to appear on February 16, the National Sports Authority February 17, and the Ghana Football Association to appear on February 18.
