Football clubs have multiple avenues of revenue generation, among them is the collection from ticket sales.
Top European clubs charge relatively high ticket fees, owing to the high demand for opportunities to experience live matches.
In most cases, these clubs end up having all tickets sold out. The tickets are usually floated on their online platforms.
One such club that is top of the charts in ticket sales is Arsenal, which famously won the English Premier League unbeaten in 2004, before plunging into a severe dry spell of trophies.
Arsenal’s highest-priced tickets cost Sh 15,000 (£95.50). This is an exclusive seat in the VVIP booth, centrally placed and high up the stadium. The position grants fans best and comfortable view of the action on the pitch.

The lowest tickets, for junior Arsenal fans, costs Sh1,500 (£10). This ticket grants kids, accompanied by their older folks, space on the lower ends of the stadium.
However, the figure is a sharp contrast to what clubs in Kenya charge as gate fees.
Gor Mahia, for instance, charges an average of Sh200 for a regular ticket and Sh500 for a VIP ticket. The figure is 30 times less than Arsenal’s rates, never mind the near-empty stadiums that the Kenyan League experiences during matches.

For Harambee Stars matches, regular tickets go for only Sh200, while VIP tickets would go for Sh 1,000. The VVIP zone is, in the meantime, a reserve of only invited guests who rarely part with a penny.
Some Harambee Stars matches are also open to being watched free of charge, especially when a commercial partner has partnered with the team. The free entry is to entice fans to turn up for the matches and cheer their team.
