
Kenya is known for its dominance in track races with many big names gracing various top tournaments globally.
Recently an 18-year-old Kenyan hit international headlines after he was the only athlete representing Africa in the 800m in the just concluded 2022 Belgrade event.
Kenya's Noah Kibet was the only African athlete to have made it through the heats in the men's 800m race at the World Indoor Athletics Championships in Serbia.

Kibet was among five Africans who were in the 800m semi finals before four bowed out of the tournament.
The four included Kenyan Collins Kipruto who failed in his heat finishing with a time of 1 minute 48 seconds, Moroccan Mostafa Smili, Djamel Sedjati and Ghanaian Alex Amankwa.
The promising athlete finished second in 1:46.35 behind Spanish Mariano García who took pole position clocking 1:46.20 as American Bryce Hoppel came in second with 1:46.51.
The Indoor World Championship was a three day event which took place from Friday, March18 and concluded on Sunday, March 20.
In other races Asbel Kipsang finished third in the 1,500m recording his first medal at the global stage. Kenya managed two medals, silver and bronze.
Kibet had previously won a bronze medal at the 2021 World Under-20 Championships at Kasarani.
"I know I'm still young and I have to perform at championships like these as often as possible to become more experienced and to feel more comfortable and confident among senior athletes," Kibet noted.
