With a 2-0 win over Sutton United on Saturday, Port Vale kept their League Two promotion ambitions alive, moving up to fourth place in the league from ninth.

Vale's win earned them a historic record. They are now the only team in the top tiers to have won league games against all 91 opponents.

Phil Sherwin, the club historian, discovered the data on Port Vale's achievements on social media.

And it certainly made fans of opposing teams wonder who would be next in line.

"What a stat that is! Wonder how many Wolves are short. Probably only about 5?" One fan wrote.

"This is actually extremely impressive if you give it some thought,” another fan wrote.

Jamie Proctor, one of the two players who scored in Port Vale's last game said in an interview with BBC Radio Stoke, "You just need to keep winning games, it's as simple as that.

"Everybody up there is playing well, everybody is winning games. We've just got to keep doing the same we can't think 'oh, win this game and we'll be second or fourth, or seventh', it just doesn't work like that."

Port Vale is Proctor's 15th club in his career, and he has nine goals this season, with striker partner Wilson scoring 11 times.

"It's such a crowded top 10 this year. All you have to do now is stare in the mirror, go on to the next game, and keep your levels up," Proctor added.

The club has been in existence since 1876 as a result gone through various managerial hands.

Carol and Kevin Shanahan, proprietors of Synectics Solutions, purchased the club in 2019.
