The mother of the14-year-old boy who was allegedly assaulted by Cristiano Ronaldo during the Everton versus Manchester United match has rejected his invitation to visit Old Trafford.
Ronaldo offered a public apology to the young Everton supporter after the incident. However, the mother felt the apology was not enough to offer her son redress.
After the match, a video emerged showing the 37-year-old forward appearing to smash a phone out of a young fan's hand as he rushed to the changing room.

"United have handled it terribly and it's just made things even worse, to be honest. The way I see it is, if someone assaulted him in the street and then asked us to go around for dinner, we wouldn’t.
"Just because he’s Cristiano Ronaldo, why would we do it? It’s like we owe him a favour, but I am sorry, we do not,” the mother noted
She noted that the reason to decline the offer by Ronaldo to go to the stadium for a match was that the son does not want to either go or see Ronaldo.
"They're not my words, they’re my son’s words. At the end of the day, this is what it is about. It’s affected him more than it has affected me.
"So I have put everything to him to make his own mind up. He does not want to go to United. He does not want to go to see Ronaldo. All that I am saying right now is that it’s in the hands of the police,” the mother added.
Cristiano Ronaldo took to his social media page to apologise for his actions noting that it was prompted by the loss to Everton.
"It’s never easy to deal with emotions in difficult moments such as the one we are facing.
"Nevertheless, we always have to be respectful, patient and set the example for all the youngsters who love the beautiful game,” part of Ronaldo’s post read.
In his apology, the Portuguese striker invited the young fan for a match at Old Trafford as a sign of fair play and sportsmanship.
