
Kenyan sprinting sensation, Ferdinand Omanyala, won gold in South Africa after defeating two-time Olympic finalist and former Africa World Record holder, Akani Simbine.
Omanyala, who was competing at the fourth leg of the ASA Athletics Grand Prix series, clocked 9.98 seconds in the 100m race.
Simbine finished second with a season's best time of 10.11 seconds as fellow South African Bradley Nkoana finished third in 10.38 seconds.

The Kenyan sprinter in the previous week participated in another race in South Africa, finishing at pole position recording a time of 10.11 seconds.
In 2021, Omanyala, the fastest man in Africa, shattered Simbine’s Africa 100m record of 9.84 seconds to clock 9.77 seconds to become the continent's best sprinter.
Omanyala has been training to break his sub 10-seconds record and hoped to do so at the Continental Tour Challenge event, at the Germiston Athletics Stadium in Johannesburg.
His time of 9.98 was an improvement from the previous 10.11 seconds.
The 26-year-old sprinter in his last race noted that his focus was on winning at the upcoming Commonwealth Games.
Omanyala has been using the ASA Athletics Grand Prix Series as part of his preparations for the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, England.
