
Seven-time Olympic gold medalist, Allyson Felix, has announced her retirement.
Felix is the most decorated US track and field athlete in history and made the announcement through her Instagram page.
In her post, the track and field athlete noted that she had done her best and it was time to hang the boots.

"As a little girl they called chicken legs, never in my wildest dreams would I have imagined I'd have a career like this, I have so much gratitude for this sport that has changed my life.
“I have given everything I have to run and for the first time I'm not sure if I have anything left to give," her post read.
Her most recent accomplishments was during the Tokyo 2020 Olympics where she won her fifth consecutive time at the Olympics.
At the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, the 36-year-old earned a bronze medal in the 400-metre race which was her 10th career medal enabling her to become the woman athlete with the most medals in Olympic track and field history.
During the start of her career, Felix won a silver medal in the 200 meters in her first Olympics appearance at the 2004 Olympics Games in Athens.
Felix also noted that she would be dedicating her last season to her daughter and at large to all women in the world.
"This season I'm running for women. I'm running for a better future for my daughter. I'm running for you. More to come on that, so stay tuned, but I'll be sharing a series of announcements that I'm hoping will make the world better for women," her Instagram post read.
