
Kenya is known for producing some of the world's most accomplished athletes, specifically in long-distance running.
Over the years, Kenyan athletes have broken world records over and over and have their names in the Olympics books of history. Kenya has won a total of 35 gold medals at the Olympics.
However, one race has brought the country a third on those medals. Out of the 35 gold, 11 have been won by athletes participating in the 3000M steeplechase.

TeamKenya.co.ke takes a look at some of the athletes who have brought the success and glory to the country in this specific race at the Olympics.
The gold medals have been distributed among top athletes with the first coming from Amos Biwott at the 1968 Mexico City Olympics.
Other athletes who have won the race include Kipchoge Keino at the 1972 Munich Olympics, Julius Korir who won the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics, Julius Kariuki winning the 1988 Seoul Olympics.
Matthew Birir bagged Kenya a gold medal at the 1992 Barcelona Olympics, while Joseph Keter was the only Kenyan to win gold at the 1996 Atlanta Olympics. Reuben Kosgei took gold at the 2000 Sydney Olympics.
Ezekiel Kemboi has two gold medals to his name at the 3000M steeplechase races having won them at 2004 Athens Olympics and the 2012 London Olympics.
Between 2004 and 2012 Kenya found success in the 3000m steeplechase through the 2008 Beijing gold medalist Brimin Kiprop Kipruto.
Conseslus Kipruto is the last Kenyan to have won gold in the race having bagged the medal at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
Other races at which Kenya has scooped gold include 800m races (7 Gold), 1500m race (6 Gold), Marathon (5 Gold), 5000m race (2 gold) 10,000m race (1 gold) and 4×400 m relay (1 gold).
