Orero has contributed greatly to naturing young talent as he has served as the chairman of the Kenya Secondary School Sports Association (KSSSA).
He served as a teacher at various schools known to produce some of the greatest sports personalities like Kamukunji Boys, Lang’ata High and Upper Hill.
While at Upper Hill, the school became a force to reckon with in basketball and rugby dominating national games.
At Dagoretti High School in 2017, the school attended consecutive national games and reached the semis in both.
He also led the Under-16 side which was competing in the 2019 Copa Coca-Cola competition with the team reaching the semis.
In past interviews, Orero noted that developing players is quite a big task as one has to understand the student to ensure there is a balance between sports and education.
“In developing players, you must be able to identify talent and most coaches don’t know how to identify and enhance that talent. You must also know how to enable the students to reach the peak of their careers in your hands while also making a balance in their school work.
“You must also know what kind of players you have and what they need to develop and nurture. I think this is what I do differently, what other schools do not do,” Orero noted earlier.
Him being a school head Orero used to delegate coaching duties to other individuals, however, he was always at the touchline to ensure everything runs smoothly and push his players to do well.
