A tuk-tuk is a three-wheel motor vehicle which widely used for transport in parts of Asia and Africa. They play a crucial role in the movement of people and goods.

However, in a country like Sri Lanka, apart from the tuk-tusk being used for transport they are also used in racing.

Tuk-tuk racing in Sri Lanka is one of the greatest motorsport events that take part in the Asian nation.

The sport involves a team of three who are required to manage their vehicles' weight by hanging off the side, preventing rollovers in fast corners.

It takes part in very challenging terrain which makes it difficult for the teams to navigate through.

Another special feature of the race is that participants are not given a fixed route, however, they chose their own route in an attempt to collect the most points.

An annual tuk-tuk racing event is usually set by Red bull in Sri Lanka with the races happening both on the local streets and the mountain areas.

This year's event will be taking place from October 16 to October 28 2022.

To secure a place in the event, one is required to pay Ksh11,590 ($100) per person to guarantee their spot.

The entry cost is Ksh89,822 ($775) per person and Ksh17,385 ($150) as a security deposit per team

Different teams battle roads, traffic, competitors, weather, and local conditions to gain as many points as possible in the time limit.

Registration is online and final invoices will be sent out at the beginning of August with the total due September 1. Deposit which is minus any deductions is refunded at the conclusion of the tournament.
