Kenya's sprinting sensation, Ferdinand Omanyala, will feature in the 2022 Birmingham Commonwealth trials to give chance to fellow athletes to prove themselves and shine at the competition.

Speaking to the media, Omanyala noted that he would instead fly to Italy on Wednesday, May 18, for the Castiglione della Pescaia international meeting that is slated for Sunday, May 22.

"I also want to give others a chance to prove themselves at the Commonwealth Games trials. It’s my hope to get a worthy partner ahead of the games,” he stated.

The superstar sprinter will then head to Germany on Monday, May 23, where he will compete in two race events slated for Wednesday, May 25 and Saturday, May 28.

This will culminate in the much-anticipated Ostrava Golden Spike, where Omanyala will clash with his rivals, Jamaican sensation Yohan Blake.

The fastest man in Africa will then return to the country ahead of the Africa Senior Athletics Championships at Cote d’Or National Sports Complex, Reduit, Mauritius scheduled to begin on Wednesday, June 8, and end on Sunday, June 12.

"I will have several events within a month and I thank God for His mercies. I always prayed for that and here we are."

"I am doing my training in 30 metre dash so as to try to make my fifth to 10th steps smooth and swift," he divulged.

Omanyala will be seeking to break his own record of 9.77 seconds that he clocked during the 2021 Kipchoge Keino world continental tour.

His recent victory saw him set a sub-10 record again, clocking in at 9.85 at the 2022 Kip Keino classic. He managed to beat top international contenders such as US's Fred Kerley and Isaiah Young.
