Women footballers usually earn peanuts compared to what their male counterparts take home. TeamKenya.co.ke takes a look at three highest paid female professional players who pocket more than some EPL talents including Burnely's Will Norris and Liverpool's Neco Williams.

Norris earns 299,998 (Ksh35,747,658) per year while Williams pockets 468,000 (Ksh51, 659,600) annually.

Ada Hegerberg

Norwegian prolific striker is among the highest paid female footballers. She earns  more than some of the male football stars playing in top European leagues. The Olympique Lyonnais star earns an annual salary of 420,000 (Ksh51,659,600). She also has huge endorsement deals.

In a recent interview with Forbes, Hegerberg argued that athletes should not be valued by what they earn.

“I know indeed that we still have a long way to go, but also the question is do you only value an athlete's worth in terms of their economic value?

Salary-wise, there's a very important discussion to have obviously, but from a broader perspective, it's all about respect and education in order to change organizations and how they look at young girls playing football,” Hegerberg stated.

Hegerberg helped Olympique Lyonnais win the Women’s UEFA champions league last season.

Sam Kerr

Sam Kerr is currently one of the highest paid female footballers in the world. The Australian forward who recently extended her contract at Chelsea pockets a whopping 592, 887 (Ksh70,553, 553) per season.
