After failing to finish in a podium position in the men's 1,500 race, Kenya's duo of Timothy Cheruiyot and Asbel Kipsang explained their shortcoming.
Cheruiyot in his interview revealed that while approaching, the finish line, he was extremely exhausted citing his previous injury.
“We had planned to run as a unit, during the entire race we were communicating with Kipsang. After the first lap, I encouraged him not to let go, but unfortunately, my legs were tired with 100m.
“I did not make it to the podium, but I am happy I reached the final,” Cheruiyot stated.

Cheruiyot, an Olympic silver medalist, added that he is over the injury hoping to make a comeback in the Commonwealth Games.
On his part, Kipsang noted that despite having teamwork their plan did not go as they expected.
"We worked as a unit, however our plan didn't go as expected. The unexpected result came as I made some miscalculations in the race.
“Our next focus is the Commonwealth Games, I promise we will do better,” Kipsang noted.
Both athletes promised to make amends in the upcoming Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, United Kingdom.
Kenya is currently third on the medals list at the World Athletic Championships in Oregon with a single gold medal, three silver medals and two bronze.
