Her teammates are Winny Langat, Maurice Aromo, Benjamin Osiemo and Anthony Masinde.
Weightlifting team coach, Douglas Locho, is confident that Achieng will perform well in her debut.
The coach also revealed that when the team was training in Nairobi, the 17-year-old was under the guidance of All Africa Games triple silver medalist, Winny Langat.
“While we were in the camp in Kasarani, she was staying with Winny Langat (All Africa Games triple silver medalist) who was mentoring and guiding her on how to prepare for the competition,” the coach noted.
Locho also noted that Achieng’s maturity levels are beyond her age and attributed this to her spending time with senior athletes.
Achieng will be taking part in the 64Kg women's weightlifting event that is scheduled for Saturday, 30 July.
