Cristiano Ronaldo's name has recently dominated headlines after reports suggested that the forward asked to leave Manchester United.

The Portugal forward returned to United where he featured in the first half of The Red Devils final friendly of the summer, with the team drawing 1 - 1 with Rayo Vallecano.

The 37-year-old Portugal forward was substituted at half-time against Rayo Vallecano and didn't stick around until the final whistle.

Ronaldo played the first 45 minutes before being substituted for Amad Diallo.

The 37-year-old was pictured leaving the stadium before full-time, and it was later reported that Diogo Dalot and other players joined him.

Manchester United's new manager, Erik Ten Hag, was quick to slam Cristiano Ronaldo for his "unacceptable" behavior.

"Certainly not, that is unacceptable. For everyone. I told them that it's unacceptable. That we are a team, a squad, and that you should stay until the end," Ten Hag stated.

Ten Hag rubbished claims that Man Utd officials had no issue with Ronaldo and company heading home early.

On Ronaldo's absence from the pre-season tour, Ten Hag noted that Ronaldo explained he was away due to personal circumstances.

The 2022/2023 Premier League is set to kick off on Friday, August 5, however, United will play on August 7, against Brighton and Hove Albion.
