100m world record holder Usain Bolt filed an application on Wednesday, August 17, 2022 with the objective of trademarking his famous victory celebration pose.
The eight-time Olympic Gold medalist intends to use the logo to expand his business empire which includes sports bars, filling shows, restaurants and jewelry and clothing shops.
The United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) disclosed on August 20, that it had accepted Bolt's application.

"The trademark application has been accepted by the Office (has met the minimum filing requirements) and has not yet been assigned to an examiner.
"New application will be assigned to an examining attorney approximately 6 months after the filing date," read a statement from USPTO.
Bolt’s signature celebration was known by almost everyone in the world when he was breaking world records and winning titles with ease.
The Jamaican legend who retired in 2017 used to lean back and point his hands to the sky every time he won a race.

According to Josh Gerben, a United States-based trademark lawyer, the move would open more opportunities for the athletics icon.
"Given that Bolt is now retired from racing, it makes sense that he would look to expand his business empire.
"The silhouette of his victory pose is recognised around the world. This trademark registration would enable him to offer the items listed in the application himself, or license the right to use the trademark to third parties," he was quoted by the BBC.
