Murang’a Seal FC has filed a complaint at the Sports Disputes Tribunal (SDT) ahead of the 2022/2023 Football Kenya Federation Premier League (FKFPL) campaign scheduled to kick off on September 10.

The club which was founded in 2011 accused their rival, Wazito FC for  fielding an ineligible player during their two-legged promotion play-off clash which ended 4-4 on aggregate with the latter narrowly escaping relegation from the Premier League thanks to the away goal rule.

Murang'a Seal thus lost the chance to be promoted to the Premier League.

The club's head coach, Vincent Nyaberi, stated that their future depends on the outcome of the case.

"Wazito fielded a player who had already been released to KCB FC, which is against the football rules and therefore we have lodged a case against them.

"Our future is dependent on the outcome of that case," Nyaberi told Citizen Digital.

He further disclosed that the club had already started preparations for the new season.

“We have already resumed training, leaving nothing to chance. If the SDT announces that we play in the Premier League, we will pick from where we left,” added Nyaberi.

Wazito FC beat Murang'a Seal 2-1 in the first leg encounter played on August 4 but the latter turned the tables in the second leg winning 3-2 in an entertaining match played at St. Sebastian Park in Muranga County.
