“But she's not the only new name in the hall of fame this year. Kenyans Paul Target and Daniel Komen will also be inducted into the Hall of Fame,” read a statement from Brussels DL.
Tergat won the Memorial Van Damme DL three times having taken part in the competition on seven occasions - he won the 10,000m race consecutively between 1997 and 2000. During the 1997 edition, Tergat set a new world record in the discipline.
The current National Olympic Committee of Kenya (NOCK) president was also unmatchable in road races.
Apart from setting a new marathon world record of 2:04.55 at the 2003 Berlin marathon, Tergat also won the world half marathon championship title twice.

Komen on the other hand graced the Brussels DL six times, winning the 5,000m and 1,500m races in 1997 and 2007 respectively.
The 46-year-old set a new 3,000m Steeplechase world record in 1996 in Italy. More than two decades later, no athlete has ever come close to breaking Komen's record of 7:20.67.
