
Serena and Venus Williams' doubles return was short-lived after they suffered a defeat in the first round at the US Open.
The sisters who were teaming up for the first time since 2018, and the last time, lost 7-6 (7-5) 6-4 to Czechs Lucie Hradecka and Linda Noskova.
As partners, Serena and Venus have won a total of 14 Grand Slam doubles titles.

Serena Williams, aged 40, is set to retire after the tournament. Her sister who is 42 years is yet to talk about her future.
Serena will continue with the singles as she is set to play Australia's Ajla Tomljanovic in the third round of the women's singles on Friday, September 2.
At the same time, Venus will cheer on her sister as she was knocked out in the first round of the singles.
Venus Williams has been out for nearly a year following a leg injury and is currently ranked 1,504th in the world in singles, while Serena is 605th.
Both have a combined total of 30 Grand Slam singles titles, with Serena having 23 and Venus 7.
The 23-time Grand Slams champion after advancing to the next round in the singles on Thursday, September 1, revealed that renowned golf player Tiger Woods was the main reason she was still playing.
“He's one of the reasons I'm here, one of the main reasons I'm still playing. We talked a lot. He was really trying to get me motivated,” Serena stated.
