The National Olympic Committee (NOC-K) on Tuesday 11, received Ksh 45 million sponsorship for Team Kenya that will be on duty to represent the country in the Tokyo 2020 olympic Games, from the Kenya Breweries Limited (KBL).
The NOC-K boss Paul Tergat received the cheque that was delivered by the KBL Managing Director John Musunga.
As part of the sponsorship, KBL will also be involved in the creation of the travelling kit for the National teams heading to the summer games in July and that the company will involve some of Kenya's top young designers to craft the kit for the athletes.
The Sponsorship embraced by NOC-K on Tuesday will aid the various teams representing the country in terms of motivation and comfortability during preparation and participation at the Olympic games.
The teams’ preparations are currently taking place as most teams have converged at the Moi International Stadium Kasarani for a bubble training despite the challenges occasioned by the COVID-19.
The government however has managed to offer first dosage of vaccines to all athletes heading to the Olympic games and is working closely with the Ministry of Health to ensure that they receive their second doses in the most appropriate time before leaving the country.
Kenya is set to send a team of 100 sportsmen and women as representatives at the global showpiece which will kick-off on July 23.
