Former Harambee Stars midfielder Victor Wanyama on Tuesday, October 4, announced that he will be leaving CF Montreal at the end of the season. 

Wanyama who is the captain of the Major Soccer League (MLS) side, will part ways with the Canadian club after two years. 

The MLS 2022 season which kicked off on February 26, will end on October 9, before heading to the playoff which set for October 15 to November 5.

The 31-year-old will see his contract run down as it will expire in December 2022. 

At Montreal, Wanyama has been pocketing a total of Ksh289.9 million ($2.4 million) as his annual base salary. 

"Honestly I think that this question has been asked for a long time and the truth is at the end of the season I will leave. I had great years here, I enjoyed being part of the team, it's been great,” Wanyama revealed. 

Wanyama will be leading his team on Sunday, October 9 to play Inter Miami CF. Montreal is currently in second place behind Philadelphia Union. 

He noted that he was still focused on their weekend match and would be hoping to finish strong. Wanyama added that after the match he will have a chance to bid farewell to the fans. 

The Montreal captain did not give details of his next move adding that things will be clear after the playoffs.
