
American teenage sensation Coco Gauff on October 20, 2022, became the youngest player ever to reach the finals of the World Tennis Association (WTA) singles finals after an exceptional season.
The player who has Haitian roots also progressed to the finals of the doubles category alongside compatriot Jessica Pegula.
An excited Gauff took to social media to celebrate the incredible achievement.

"I’m so happy to have qualified for my first @wtafinals in singles and doubles! See y’all soon Texas," read her statement.
The 18-year-old has enjoyed a good run this season, breaking barriers in her promising career.
She reached the finals of a Grand Slams tournament for the first time at the French Open tournament which was held in June this year.
Other stars who have already secured their qualification for the WTA finals include world number one Iga Swiatek of Poland, Caroline Garcia and Pegula.
Tunisian international Ons Jabeur, who became the first African player to reach the finals of the US Open grand slam tournaments earlier this year has also made it to the WTA finals.
Two more stars are yet to be confirmed for the finals scheduled to be played between October 31 and November 7 at the Dickies Arena, in Texas, United States.
WTA finals is a tournament that takes place at the end of the tennis season every year.
The tournament which is organized by the world tennis governing body is reserved for the highest ranked players in the world.
