Monza CEO Issues Update on Stabbed Arsenal Star Pablo Mari

Monza CEO Adriano Galliani has given an update on Arsenal loanee, Pablo Mari, who was stabbed at a shopping mall in Italy.

Speaking to Sky Italy, Galliani noted that the defender suffered a deep wound on his back adding that it was not life-threatening.

According to the Italian club CEO, Mari is expected to make a quick recovery in the coming days.

He explained that Mari's height save him noting that the incident would have been worse if he was short.

"He told me about this incredible incident. He had his son in a trolley and his wife next to him. He didn't notice anything. He then felt something painful in his back, which was the criminal's knife.

"Unfortunately, he also saw the criminal stab someone else in the throat. He saw everything that happened and it was deeply disturbing," Galliani noted.

Mari is recovering at the Niguarda hospital and he is expected to be back in training on Monday, October 31.

Earlier, Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta stated that the club's technical director Edu Gaspar had already spoken with the player's family and agent as they monitor developments regarding the incident.

According to the reports the defender was among five people taken to the hospital after the incident. One of the victims was pronounced dead on arrival at the hospital.

Reports from the investigators rule out the possibility of terrorism adding that a 46-year-old man has been arrested.
