Ex-South Korean forward, Ahn Jung-hwan, was sacked by Perugia FC after netting an injury-time winner that knocked Italy out of the 2002 FIFA World Cup.
The second-choice striker was fired by Perugia chairperson Luciano Gaucci, a day after he scored a goal that shocked the entire world.
“He was a phenomenon only when he played against Italy. I have no intention of paying a salary to someone who has ruined Italian football,” The Guardian quoted Gaucci.

Ahn found the back of the net in the 117th minute to make it 2-1 for the co-hosts South Korea and send the entire nation into a frenzy.
Hundreds of thousands of South Korean fans filled the streets of Seoul to celebrate the historic victory.
Byron Moreno, who was the centre referee in that dramatic match, was blamed by the Italians for poor officiating.
The star-studded Italian squad that had the likes of Alessandro Del Piero, Paolo Maldini and veteran shot-stopper Gianluigi Buffon complained about a goal which was disallowed for offside and a red card that was shown to Roma legend Francesco Totti.
Totti was sent for an early shower after he picked up a second yellow card due to simulation.
Moreno, an Ecuadorian referee, was 2011 sentenced to prison for two and half years after being found guilty of smuggling heroin by an American-based court.
After being shown the door unceremoniously, Ahn went on to have a remarkable career with English sides Reading and Fulham.
He also had spells with clubs in China, Germany, Japan and France.
Jung-hwan was also part of the South Korean squad that graced 2006 and 2010 FIFA World Cup editions staged in Germany and South Africa.
He became a television personality after hanging his boots. Some of the shows that he has played a role in include Brave Detectives, Hole in One Between Legends, and Veteran and cool kids.
