Ababu Namwamba Hints at Countrywide Talent Auditions & Database

Sports Cabinet Secretary Ababu Namwamba has hinted at developing an online portal where Kenyans will be able to showcase their talent. 

In a meeting with Kenya Academy of Sports and Talanta FC officials on November 14, the CS noted that the portal would help scouts identify grass root talent in the country. 

Namwamba added that there is a lot of untapped talent from the grassroots level in Kenya which needed to be identified and utilised well.

"Let us develop a portal where our talented sportsmen and women from across the country can upload at least a five-minute clip, for the technical team to evaluate and ultimately pick the best talents out there. The database will help our scouts identify these talents," Ababu noted. 

According to Namwamba, the platform will consist of advanced features to carry out extensive talent searches in all schools and across the counties.  

The Cabinet Secretary noted that the program would also act as a talent feeder to the national teams. 

"This is going to be a game changer in talent spotting and management in our country. Let us all dedicate our efforts, to make it a success," Namwamba added.

Since he took up the office as the Sports CS Ababu has worked on reviving football activities back to the country. 

He restored the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Secretariate in accordance with FIFA’s demand on lifting the suspension from football activities. 

With the resumption of the secretariat, the resumption of the leagues was also announced with the 2022/2023 FKF Premier League set to resume on Saturday, November 19.
