Arsenal has produced superb players in the past few decades who have gone ahead to land managerial roles at different clubs.

TeamKenya.co.ke takes a look at players who played for the club and went on to become managers.

Mikel Arteta

Mikel Arteta is one of the most successful coaches who have previously played for Arsenal.

At 40 years old, Arteta is the youngest coach in the 2022/2023 English Premier League season.

However, despite making his managerial debut a few years ago, Arteta is going toe to toe with established tacticians in the English Premier League(EPL) due to his brilliant tactics.

The Gunners are currently at the top of the EPL standings with 37 points, five more than defending champions Manchester City.

Arteta, who has previously served as Pep Guardiola’s assistant, has guided the North London-based side to an FA Cup title in his debut season at the Emirates.

Patrick Viera

Viera was part of the Arsenal squad that won the Premier League title during the 2003/2004 season without registering a single defeat.

The former Invincibles' skipper is currently in his second season as manager of Crystal Palace having been appointed on July 4, 2021, as the successor to Roy Hodgson.

He previously managed New York City FC in the United States and French Ligue 1 side Nice before switching to the EPL.

Thierry Henry

Thierry Henry is arguably the most famous player to have ever worn the Arsenal jersey in the Arsene Wenger era.

The former French international helped Arsenal win two EPL titles in 2002 and 2004 before signing for FC Barcelona.

At the end of his career, he ventured into coaching and managed a number of teams including Canadian side CF Montreal and Monaco.

He is currently the assistant coach of the Belgium national men’s team.

Kolo Toure

Kolo Toure was recently appointed as Wigan Athletic manager, after the sacking of Leam Richardson earlier this month.

The Côte d’Ivoire international has previously worked under top coaches including Leicester manager Brendan Rodgers and Roberto Mancini.

At Wigan, Toure has been tasked with the responsibility of helping the championship side avoid relegation.
