
Belgium manager Roberto Martinez announced that he would step down from his role as head coach to Belgium after exiting the World Cup.
Martinez revealed that his contract with Belgium will not be renewed after the Red Devis 0 – 0 draw with Croatia on December 1.
The 49-year-old Spanish coach who took charge of Belgium in 2016 clarified that he was not resigning from his position immediately.

"Yes, that was my last game. It has been six years since I arrived with the clear idea of qualifying for the 2018 World Cup. Then we became so engaged with the project and won a bronze medal. I'm so proud of these players. It has been amazing.
"It has been six years where we've been able to do everything you want to do. The team has played and given people real joy. But this is the time for me to accept. I won't resign. It's the end of my contract.
Belgium performed dismally at the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, only registering one win in their group-stage matches.
The Belgian Red Devils failed to replicate their performance in Russia's last World Cup edition when they finished the tournament as top scorers.
At the 2018 tournament, Martinez led the team to their best performance at a World Cup with a third-place finish.
Belgium is second in the FIFA rankings and suffered a defeat to Morocco, a draw to Croatia and a win against Canada.
Martinez also revealed that since 2018 he has received various offers from clubs however he declined all as a sign of loyalty to Belgium.
