Brazilian Legend Pele Issues Health Update

Ex-Brazilian forward Edson Arantes do Nascimento popularly known as Pele released a statement on Saturday night, December 3, 2022, giving an update of his health condition.

Pele was admitted to hospital on Tuesday, with reports emerging that he was receiving palliative care.

However, the three-time FIFA World Cup winner disclosed on his social media account that he is strong and full of energy.

“My friends, I want to keep everyone calm and positive. I’m strong, with a lot of hope and I follow my treatment as usual. I want to thank the entire medical and nursing team for all the care I have received.

“I have a lot of faith in God and every message of love I receive from you all over the world keeps me full of energy.

“And watch Brazil in the world cup too! Thank you so much for everything,” part of the statement from his Instagram post read.

Many fans and star footballers, both active and retired,  including former AC Milan ace Kaka, reacted to the post, wishing Pele a quick recovery.

Santos FC, Pele's former side also tweeted a good will message, notifying him that the entire universe is behind him.

"It's the whole world wishing you well, King Pele," the statement from the club read.

The hospital had earlier released a statement, revealing that the youngest World Cup scorer is in stable condition, dismissing reports that Pele was on the verge of dying.

With the 22nd of the World Cup underway in Qatar, Pele remains the tournament’s youngster goal scorer having netted his first goal at the age of 17 in Brazil’s 5-2 thrashing of Sweden in 1958.
