“I chose Muay Thai because it is more advanced than Kickboxing. In Kickboxing they use the fist and the feet only. In Muay Thai we use the feet and the elbow, so it is advanced.

“At school, I was being bullied. When I was strolling around the school on one particular evening, I saw coach Kaka training people, so I got interested.

“After learning Muay Thai I have never been bullied until now,” he stated.

During the interview, Musa’s coach, Japheth Adongo, explained the difference between Muay Thai and Kickboxing.

“In Kenya, we do the American type of kickboxing, that is full contact. Then we have Muay Thai.

“Muay Thai is low kick and is from Thailand,” he explained.

While detailing the differences, Adongo added that kickboxers usually wore tracksuits unlike those who played Muay Thai.

“In full contact sports there are rules, yes, but you can hit harder and there is no stopping until it reaches three minutes or maybe there is an injury where the referee can stop.

“With Muay Thai, players put on their shorts, not the track suits while they are fighting in the ring because they mostly use their shin, and their elbow and also the knee,” ended Adongo.
