Newcastle Recalls Goalkeeper From Manchester Utd

Newcastle has recalled Martin Dubravka from his season-long loan at Manchester United.

Through a statement issued by both clubs on Sunday, January 1, 2023, it was reported that the Slovakian goalkeeper will return to his parent club.

Since his arrival at Manchester United Dubraka only featured twice in the Carabao Cup fixtures.

“Martin Dúbravka has been recalled from his season-long loan spell with Manchester United,” part of the statement read.

His debut for the Red Devils was in November 2022, when United defeated Aston Villa 4-2 at Old Trafford.

Dubravka’s last match at United saw the Eric ten Hag-led side win 2-0 over Burnley at the Carabao Cup.

In its statement, Manchester United thanked the goalkeeper for his contribution during his stay at Old Trafford.

The 33-year-old joined the Magpies in January 2018, from Czech side Sparta Prague and has made 130 competitive appearances, recording 37 clean sheets in the English top flight.

At Newcastle, the goalkeeper won the club's 2019/20 Player of the Year award.

Newcastle noted that the goalkeeper will battle for the position with Nick Pope who has nine clean sheets in the 2022/23 Premier League season.
