Buffalo Bill's player Damar Hamlin suffered a cardiac arrest and collapsed during a match against Cincinnati Bengals on Monday, January 2, 2023.

A Go Fund Me drive to aid him in recovery raised millions in a few hours.

Before the match, it had raised about Ksh370,500 ($3000), currently at Ksh415 million ($3.3 million).

The American football athlete began the fund drive to allow him to help the community where he grew up in.

According to Hamlin, the campaign helps people around have the opportunity to contribute toward positively impacting children who the pandemic has hardest hit.

100 percent of the funds raised will go toward the purchase of toys for kids in need.

“Thank you so much for supporting me on and off the field. I am grateful to have the opportunity to work with you to help make the holiday season a little brighter for the kids in our community,” Hamlin's statement read.

According to the club's statement, Hamlin is currently sedated and listed in critical condition.

The incident led to the match being suspended in the first quarter before the game was postponed.
