
American football player Damara Hamlin of the Buffalo Bills suffered a cardiac arrest and collapsed during a match between the Bills and Cincinnati Bengals.
This incident occurred on Monday, January 2, 2023, when Hamlin fell on his back minutes after shaking off an open-field tackle.
“Damar Hamlin suffered a cardiac arrest following a hit in our game versus the Bengals. His heartbeat was restored on the field, and he was transferred to the UC Medical Center for further testing and treatment.

According to the club's statement, Hamlin is currently sedated and in critical condition.
The match was suspended in the first quarter before an agreement between the National Football League and the Players Association agreed to postpone the game.
In his statement, NFL executive vice president of operations, Troy Vincent, noted that he had never seen anything like it since he began his career.
The players were all in shock on the field after witnessing their teammates suffer a medical emergency.
It was a mixture of emotions. Some players were crying, praying, kneeling and embracing one another before returning to the locker room.
