Ayimba Family Seeks Ksh 2.7m Aid to Offset Hospital Bill, Funeral Expenses

The Kenya Rugby Union and the family of former Kenya Sevens Head Coach Benjamin Ayimba have appealed for assistance in footing his pending medical and funeral bills.

Ayimba passed away on Friday 21 May 2021 after a long battle with cerebral malaria.

Family spokesman and former Kenya international Oscar Osir while addressing the media on Monday May 24 said, " this cost factors in the Ksh 1.7 million in pending hospital bills and another Ksh 1m that will be geared towards funeral expenses. Contributions can be made to the existing Paybill Number 8021673 account name Benjamin Otieno Ayimba medical."

Ayimba's uncle, Joseph, briefed the media, saying that the rugby icon would be laid to next within the next two weeks in Uranga, Siaya County.

He further said funeral meetings are ongoing every Tuesday and Friday at YMCA, South C from 530pm

Kenya Rugby Union Chairman Oduor Gangla echoed Osir's sentiments,calling for support in giving Ayimba a fitting send off and further noted that a condolence book would be opened at the KRU offices on Ngong Road.
