She began her 2023 season on a high after she won the women’s 10,000m at the 2nd AK Track and Field Weekend meeting at Nyayo Stadium on Friday morning, February 24.
Rebeccah finished first in 32:37.04, then Agnes Mumbua (32:39.0) and Edna Kibiwott (32:47.6) in second and third, respectively.
The 21-year-old also commented on the difference between her races in Japan and Kenya, as she is used to the 10,000m race.
“Back home in Japan, I always run in the 10,000m but mostly on road. It was quite a refreshing break to come and run in this race on home soil. I look forward to more opportunities to compete, ” Maina added.
