The Ex Liverpool, Real Madrid and Bayern Munich Star Xabi Alonso extended his contract with Spanish Club Real Sociedad ,a deal which will see him stay at San Sebastian up until 2022.
This extension came shortly after reports earlier this week linking the 39 year-old former Spanish international with a move to Borussia Monchengladbach as head coach, to replace Marco Rose who is set to take over reigns at Borussia Dortmund this summer.
Xabi Alonso through the Real Sociedad website stated that he has been happy to be part of the growing Real Sociedad B project which he has led for the past 2 years.
The 2010 world cup winner also said that he has bigger ambitions with the team even after leading the team to secure the top position of Segunda Division B Group 2 ,Group A table this season.
With Borrussia Monchengladbach having showcased interest in Xabi Alonso as their new manager ,this contract extension will see the 10th placed club in the Bundesliga get back to the drawing board in search of a new tactician.
