Cristiano to Earn Ksh26 Billion in Saudi Arabia

Portugal forward Cristiano Ronaldo penned a deal with Saudi Arabia side Al Nassir where he will earn a salary close to Ksh26 billion (€200m) a year.

The salary is inclusive of commercial deals and is the biggest paycheck ever paid for a footballer.

Ronaldo will play for Al Nassr for two and a half years as per his contract.

In a statement on Saturday, December 31, the club noted that the transfer was a historic moment in football.

“This is a signing that will not only inspire our club to achieve even greater success but inspire our league, our nation and future generations, boys and girls to be the best version of themselves. Welcome Cristiano Ronaldo to your new home Al Nassr FC,” the statement read.

Ronaldo also spoke of his transfer expressing his joy to start playing in a different country.

“I’m thrilled for a new experience in a different league and a different country, the vision that Al Nassr has is very inspiring.

“I’m very excited to join my teammates, and to help the team to achieve more success,” Ronaldo’s statement read.

Ronaldo will partner with Cameroon forward Vincent Aboubakar which has excited a lot of football enthusiasts.

Al Nassr has won nine Saudi Arabian league titles, the last in 2019.
