Harambee Stars newcomer Wilkims Ochieng is expected to join a Slovenian-based club, FC Koper.

A Slovenian media outlet reported that Ochieng was on the verge of penning a deal with the Slovenian team.

“The cup champions are close to signing a contract with the young Kenyan Wilkims Ochieng.

“He is a winger who also has a Belgian passport and received his football education at the academy Club Brugge, with whom he also regularly played in the youth Champions League.

“Only a medical examination separates him from signing a contract with Koper,” read part of the statement from Slovenia Posts English.

The 19-year-old got his first national team call-up in 2021 but is yet to represent Kenya in international competitions.

He was part of the Engin Firat chargers, who participated in the FIFA World Cup qualification matches against East African counterparts Uganda and Rwanda in 2021.

He will likely make his first appearance for the top-tier side on Saturday, January 21, in a friendly match against  Red Star Belgrade.

After graduating from their youth side, Ochieng landed his professional contract in 2020 at Club Brugge.

The talented attacker is still eligible to represent the Belgium national team since he has not played a competitive match for Harambee Stars.
