Conte Misses Press Conference After Death of Former Chelsea Player

Antonio Conte missed out on Tottenham's press conference following the death of former Chelsea player Gianluca Vialli.

Vialli died on Friday, January 6, 2023, at the age of 58 following a battle with cancer.

Tottenham Boss was due to speak to the press ahead of his team's FA Cup match against Portsmouth on January 7.

Conte and Gianluca played together for Serie A side Juventus between 1992 and 1996.

At Juventus, the duo lifted the UEFA Cup in 1993, the Serie A title and the Coppa Italia double in 1995, as well as the Champions League in 1996.

Gianluca was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in 2017, however, in April 2020 he revealed that he was cleared.

Later, in 2021, he was re-diagnosed and was forced to leave his role with Italy’s national team in December 2022 to focus on his health.

The Premier League has mourned the former Italy international passing its condolence to both friends and family of the deceased.

Gianluca scored  21 goals and 11 assists in 58 Premier League appearances before he took the role of a manager at Chelsea and became the league’s first Italian manager.

In its condolence, Serie A praised the former footballer for his impact on and off the pitch.
