Basketball is one of the most popular sports in America and other western countries. It is also gaining fame in Africa.

Many countries have well established basketball leagues and have invested heavily in basketball courts.

French cognac distiller company (Hennessy), together with NBA, partnered to turn Icebergs pool at Bondi, Australia into a basketball court.

The NBA Hennessy basketball court, previously a swimming pool, was drained and turned into giant court in celebration of the partnership between Hennesy and NBA.

The black basketball court was designed by Sydney-based Studio Messa, who devised a plan to reimagine the iconic Bondi Icebergs ocean pool.

The project started by emptying the pool and on to building the court before refurbishing and redesigning the surrounding bar area and creating customised decor.

The eye-catching basketball court at the Bondi Icebergs Club sits at the middle of the sea with high tides causing water spillage in the court.

The outstanding sports venue, despite the water spillage, hosts some of the biggest basketball matches in the country.

The partnership also created the first ever floating basketball court in Africa.

The court was established at Lekki-Ikoyi Bridge in Lagos, Nigeria.
