Nigeria registered a 1 - 1 draw against Ghana but missed the slot after Ghana got the advantage of an away goal.
After the final whistle at the Abuja National Stadium, Nigerian fans stormed the pitch, furiously hurling objects at the players.

The Nigerian fans expressed disappointment at the performance of their team.
A second group of fans, who did not invade the pitch, watched in disbelief as the angry crowd vandalised the stadium.
The players from both Nigerian and Ghanaian teams scampered for safety and took refuge in the dressing rooms and in the tunnel.
It took the efforts of the police who lobbed teargas to quell the chaos and disperse the rowdy youths.
The Black Stars were seeking redemption after missing out on the Russia World Cup.
The Super Eagles' failure to go to the World Cup will be their first since their last disappointment in 2006.
Ghana together Senegal, Morocco, Tunisia and Cameroon will be Africa's representatives in Qatar.
