5 African Footballers Who Own Private Jets

After spending hours training and on the pitch, most footballers spend their time travelling. However, during these tours, privacy matters to them like nothing else. To achieve this, some turn to private jets. 

Apart from granting them privacy, private jets also come with convenience. They can hop from country to country or city to city with eases and without restrictions and checks at the airports.

While hiring jets is an option for many, some, with deep pockets own aircrafts.  TeamKenya.co.ke takes a look at five African stars who own private jets.

Mohamed Salah (Liverpool) 

The Liverpool forward who also plays for Egypt's national team, is among the highest paid African footballers. Salah takes home around ksh30 million at Liverpool.

Salah, has over the years received various awards including African player of the year in 2018 and 2019. 

He was also named BBC African Footballer of the year in 2017, CAF Most Promising Talent of the year in 2012, and FIFA Puskas Award in 2018. He has won the Premier League golden boot, twice in 2017 and 2019. 

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (Barcelona) 

The ex-Arsenal forward after his transfer to Spanish giants Barcelona is earning around Ksh11 million. 

Aubamenyang has had the privilege to play in most of the top European clubs like Borussia Dortmund, Arsenal and Barcelona. 

Riyad Mahrez (Manchester City) 

Manchester City winger who also dons the armband for the Algeria's national team earns Ksh18 million. 

Mahrez who began his career as a youth player for French club AAS Sarcelles has grown to higher levels playing for English sides Leicester and Manchester City where he has lifted the premier league trophy on three occasions.

Wilfred Zaha (Crystal Palace) 

The 29 year old Ivory Coast winger known for his skills in the game earns ksh19 million a week at Crystal Palace. 

Zaha who began his career at Manchester United found it hard to blend with the team before joining Crystal Palace in the 2015/2015 season. 

The Palace forward switched his nationality from English to Ivorian in 2016 after the Ivorian Football Federation confirmed that Zaha had sent correspondence to FIFA to switch his international football allegiance. 

Alex Iwobi (Everton) 

The 25-year-old Nigerian international currently plays in the Premier League for Everton where he earns ksh8 million per week. 

Iwobi began his career at Arsenal where he stayed from 2015 to 2019 where he lifted the FA Cup in 2017 before joining Everton.
