The Complex sits on a 35-acre piece of land with the stadium having a sitting capacity of 10,000 and a standardised 8-track.
The stadium is also fitted with floodlights which will facilitate events that will take place at night.
During the groundbreaking ceremony, President Kenyatta noted that the new facilities will help enhance KDF’s readiness to serve and also that the stadium and wellness centre are aligned with the Universal Health Coverage pillar of the Government’s Big 4 Agenda.
Also present at the sports complex is the wellness centre which is equipped with several facilities that will offer treatment to troops wounded at war and suffering trauma of any nature.
The facility will be home to many KDF sports teams like the Ulinzi stars (football), Ulinzi starlets (football), Ulinzi Warriors (basketball), Defaba (Boxing), Ulinzi netball and Kenya Defence Forces Athletics among others.
The sports facility will be available for not only the Kenya defence forces personnel but also the general public.
There will be an exhibition match between Ulinzi stars and the current Kenya Premier League champions Tusker FC on April 13.
