Why Champions League Fans Will Get Free Tickets for the Finals

UEFA has announced the commencement of ticket sales for the 2022 Champions League final which will run to April  28. 

Fans of the two finalists together with the general public have been allocated the majority of the tickets.

The Champions League final will be staged at the Stade de France in Paris, France, on Saturday, May 28, exactly a month after the close of ticket sale.

UEFA has a provision of 75,000 tickets (the stadium’s capacity for the final) but only 52,000 tickets out of are available for fans and the general public to purchase.

Each team will receive 20,00 tickets to sell while 12,000 tickets are being offered to fans worldwide via UEFA.com. 

However, the football association will give 10,000 UEFA Champions League final tickets and 8,000 UEFA Europa League final tickets for free to fans of the finalists. 

This move by UEFA is to show gratitude to the fans for their support during the pandemic, the saw most sporting activities around the world suspended in a bid to stop the spread of the virus.

UEFA has instructed the clubs that will be taking part in the much-anticipated matches to take charge of the allocation of the tickets, which should not be to to sponsors, partners or even club officials. 

To reward fans for their support of European football during the COVID crisis, UEFA will also provide 6,000 tickets free of charge to this season's UEFA Europa Conference League final and UEFA Women Champions League final. 

The tickets which are on sale differ in price depending on the category:Category 4: Ksh 8,758 (€70), Category 3: Ksh 22,522 (€180), Category 2: Ksh 61,298 (€490) and Category 1: Ksh 86,318 (€690).
