International sportswear brand Nike on April 27, formally opened its doors to the one of a kind Serena Williams Building.
The new building occupies a space equivalent to 140 full-size tennis courts, making it the largest office building on the Nike World Headquarters, at Portland campus.

“The whole building takes your breath away... Every element, everywhere you go, is an opportunity to be inspired.
“I hope this building encourages people to bring out the best of themselves and to dream bigger than they thought possible,” Serena noted.
The new building has a range of features including a 140,000 square-foot showroom and workspace. It also includes a footwear materials library along with a color lab.
There is also the 140-seat Olympia Theater which is named after the four-year-old daughter of Serena Williams and her husband Alexis Ohanian.
“When I was just a kid I visited the Nike campus and I saw that athletes get buildings!
“After that visit, I knew I wanted two things: to be a Nike athlete and to have a building,” Serena noted.
According to the Chief Design Officer John Hoke, the purpose of the facility was to enable the centre serve athletes and improve services.
“Architecture has long been a creative catalyst for Nike. A manifestation of form and function following footprint, this building embodies Serena’s legacy as a force for positive change. It is the art to the LeBron James Innovation Center’s science, allowing us to know and serve athletes like never before,” John Hoke noted.
