One of the advantages of training at the high-altitude area camp in Kapchorwa is that it helps athletes' bodies boost the production of more red blood cells to aid in oxygen delivery to the muscles.
Athletes who have found success having trained at the camp include multiple world champion and world record holder Joshua Cheptegei, London 2012 Olympic Marathon champion, Stephen Kiprotich and teenage sensation Jacob Kiplimo.
Athletes at the camp start their day at 5am before the first training session which runs from 6am for an hour.
At the camp, there is a hotel known as Noah's Ark where meals are prepared by two chefs under strict supervision of coach Chesang.
Lunch is served at 12:30 pm before the athletes go for another training session at 5pm which mostly happens on the last days of the competition.
The Camp has accommodation facilities for men and women, who are closely monitored by a disciplinarian coach.
Also at the camp is an Italian medic Sonia Scoca who ensures that the athletes stay healthy.
