Patrick Aussems Responds to AFC Leopard Exit

AFC head coach Patrick Aussems could be on his out if a report by The Times of Rwanda, is anything to go by.

According to the outlet, Kyovu’s Club Secretary General Omar Munyengabe confirmed that Aussems had agreed to join the club. 

“The agreement has been reached but the contract has not been signed yet. After the talks, there is a 90 % chance that he will become the coach of Kiyovu…but he has not signed yet,” Munyengabe stated.

Munyengabe added that while negotiating with Ausemms he did not mention having a contract with AFC. 

“I doubt that he still has a contract at AFC Leopard because, during the negotiations, he never mentioned that he still has a contract with them. All I know is that he is a free agent but I can’t say much about it as I have no idea about it,” Munyengabe added. 

The Belgian who is has been with Ingwe since 2021 is reported to have agreed to replace Francis Haringingo, who led the team to a second-place finish in the previous season.  

However, the Belgian dismissed the reports, noting that he was currently in Belgium enjoying his break. 

"All these rumors I am quiet at home... Let me enjoy my holidays. Good evening everyone!" Aussems stated. 

Aussems joined AFC Leopards in February 2021, after Anthony Kimani stepped down from his position at the club. 

Ingwe finished sixth in the league with the 57-year-old giving the youth a chance to feature in the first team during the season. 

The 57-year-old has a rich career having coached Tanzania giants Simba SC, Al Hilal Omdurman, Stade Reims and Evian.
