Kenya's Tennis sensation Angella Okutoyi has one grand wish ahead of the US Open, meeting the legendary Serena Williams.
Okutoyi noted she would love to meet Serena who is her idol and role model. Serena is expected to retire after the US Open.
The 18-year-old is currently preparing to play at her fourth junior grand slam event this year at the US Open. Okutoyi wants to be Africa’s version of Serena, the 23-time grand slam champion.

“For sure I am really hoping to meet Serena Williams since I think she would be retiring after the US Open. So hopefully I get a picture with her or even have a small conversation with her.
“I mean this will really boost me. Hearing from a legend just speaking to you or even having a picture with a legend is what everyone wants.
“It will be in your books or somewhere, that you met your role model,” Okutoyi stated.
Okutoyi will be travelling to Canada on Monday, August 22, for a juniors tournament, a warm-up tournament to the US tourney.
She hopes to use the tournament to improve her singles performance as she has been better in the doubles.
“I don’t take it as a warm-up tournament. I really want to build my confidence in singles since lately I have not been doing really good in singles.
“So in Canada, I will be trying to do really good... I hope for the best,” Okutoyi added.
