Birmingham Gold medalist Ferdinand Omanyala has asked Kenyans and well-wishers to help him raise Ksh1.5 million to support his team of junior athletes comprising boys and girls aged 8-17 years.
Omanyala’s team which is coordinated by Victor Khasandi has a contingent of 14 youthful sprinters who have been invited to the Netherlands for the Rotterdam Wedstrijden sprint event.
Kenya is the only African country to feature in the Rotterdam Wedstrijden sprint event.

The team dubbed Omanyala YISCA team so far has two air tickets donated by Omanyala which are not enough for the entire contingent that has 14 players and two officials.
"I am working so hard to see Kenya be an industry for sprinters and have as many sprinters to travel for the global championships. Will do all I can in my ability to tap the so many talents in Kenya.
"Just urging the cooperate and private sectors to join hands with me as we unveil a new line of talent in Kenya, for this urgent call anyone willing kindly contact my team,” Omanyala exclusively told TeamKenya.co.ke.
According to Omanyala, the team is supposed to be in the Netherlands on September 2, 2022.
“We are appealing for funds to the tune of Ksh1.5 million. We are down on our knees, we don't want to miss this rare trip since we missed another similar one in Finland that was to be held in June but due to lack of funds, we missed the trip. This is one avenue of exposing our young talents,” Khasandi added.
He also thanked Omanyala and the National Olympic of Kenya (NoC-K) for their financial and material support.
NoC-K donated tracksuits for the entire contingent while Omanyala also donated running boots through Adidas sports alongside the two air tickets.
